About the Model

The Titleist Vokey SM9 range of wedges represents their most technologically advanced design to date, and they have been created to provide a lower flight with higher spin. The performance is further enhanced by the variety of grinds available to the consumer, with each one providing distinctive features and benefits to allow for fine tuning of your wedge game in a way previously only available to tour players. The Spin Milled grooves that have been present on all Vokey designs in recent years have been significantly enhanced on the Titleist Vokey SM9 range of wedges. A new cutting process has been developed which has allowed Titleist to tighten their tolerances and produce consistently sharper grooves on every single wedge. Micro gooves situated in between each main groove have been added to the face, improving the level of spin and control on partial shots. The durability of grooves on a wedge is of crucial importance as it allows the wedge to continue performing as should for a more extended period of time. Titleist have ensured that this is the case with the SM9’s by applying a proprietary heat treatment to the impact area which doubles the durability of the grooves without detracting from the famous Vokey feel. The grooves are also designed to offer optimal performance on individual lofts and finishes. The 46° to 54° wedges feature narrower and deeper grooves whilst the 56° to 62° options have wider and shallower grooves. The Titleist Vokey SM8 was the first wedge to feature the ground-breaking Progressive Centre of Gravity design that placed the CG in a position that hovered in front of the wedge face. The SM9 design has been produced with further innovations in this area and sees the CG raised vertically by adding weight to the topline design. A tapered pad at the back of the toe is used to align the CG correctly but crucially, this technology is not visible at address. Progressive hosel lengths have also been employed to raise the CG in the higher lofted wedges. Golfers can expect to find hugely improved distance and trajectory control married to enhanced stability leading to shots that consistently finish closer to the flag. Aesthetically the Titleist Vokey SM9 wedges deliver a wonderfully traditional shape that isn’t too much of a departure from the SM8. The clean, crisp lines that greet the golfer’s eyes at address are sure to appeal to both elite players and the average weekend golfer. Vokey wedges have always had a tremendous amount of bag appeal and the SM9 is no different. Regardless of which finish you plump for, a golf bag that holds a selection of SM9 wedges will be a thing of immense beauty. The Titleist Sm9 Raw Vokey is immensely popular with the best players in the world. The Raw aspect is essentially when no finish is applied to the head and it will have a satin look initially, but this will fade and start to rust over time. Many players believe that this improves feel and prevents any unwanted glare, especially in the more lofted wedges. The SM9 range has an enormous variety of different lofts and grinds that allows you to select the perfect wedge for your ability, play style and the course conditions that are most prevalent in your area. Bob Vokey takes a huge amount of pride in providing the consumer with a host of different options, with each one designed for a specific purpose. The craftmanship and attention to detail that Bob Vokey and Titleist use when creating new ranges in precisely the reason that they continue to be the #1 wedge in golf.

NEW

This club or set is brand new.  The head is still in the original manufacturers shrink wrap.  There are no marks or signs of use anywhere on the club, including the shaft and grip.

A - EXCELLENT

An A grade rating is a rare bird indeed!  It represents a club or set that is practically unblemished. There are no visible marks on the crown, back or top of the club and any marks on the face are almost unnoticeable.  There are no marks or paint scratches on the shaft.  The grip is almost new.

B - VERY GOOD

B grade golf clubs and sets represent the top end of pre-owned golf equipment.  This club or set only has faint marks on the face and the crown is unblemished.  There are no sky sky marks visible on drivers, fairways or hybrids.  The top, back and sole are also in very good condition and any marks will be very minor.  The shaft may have very light marks but no scratches or shaft wear spots.  The grip still feels very good and tacky.

C - GOOD

C grade is our most common grading.  It represents an average amount of wear for a pre-owned golf club.  This club may have light marks on the crown and clear ball impact marks on the face.  There may also be minor wear marks on the back or sole of the club/set and some blemishes to the paint work may be visible.  Graphite shafted clubs may have some minor bag wear marks but none greater than 1 cm with no depressions. The grip is still in a good usable order.

D - FAIR

While a D grading is our lowest grade, it still represents a perfectly usable golf club and often incredible value!  This club or set has seen more than an average amount of use and there may be clear marks on the crown, face and back of the club head.  There may be chips to the paintwork on drivers, fairways and hybrids and minor dings on the sole of irons and wedges.  Graphite shafts may show signs of wear but no bag rub marks that are greater than 1 cm with no depressions.  The grip is perfectly usable but may have lost some of its tackiness.  The performance of the club is unaffected.

NEW

Brand New. Manufacturers labelling is present and unmarked. Never been used and no marks or signs of use anywhere on the shaft. Where present, the grip & adapter are unblemished.

A - EXCELLENT

No marks or paint scratches on the shaft, it would almost pass as new but manufacturers labelling may not be intact. Where present, the the grip and adapter are very much like new.

B - VERY GOOD

There may be very light marking but no scratches or bag rub marks on the shaft. Where present, the grip still feels very tacky, there may be very light marking but no scratches on the adapter.

C - GOOD

Shaft has light marks from general use and or a minor bag rub mark (but it is less than 1 cm with no indentation). Where present, the grip has lost some of its tackiness but still has a good amount of usage left, the adapter may have marks and light scratches from general use.

D - FAIR

The shaft may have a reasonable amount of wear. Bag rub marks are no greater than 1cm with no indentation. Where present, the grip and adapter show obvious signs of wear but are not damaged. The performance of the shaft is unaffected by its condition.
